## Shorts ads from a photo, ready for YouTube

Make vertical Shorts ads from one product image, with a creator on camera or the product on its own, and export an MP4 you can drop into Google Ads. It also renders 16:9 for in-stream.

### Shorts ads that explain and sell

YouTube viewers stay for a reason to watch. A person explaining why the product matters works well, and so does a clean demo.

Why Shorts creative lags

### Shorts need a hook in the first second

1. **Long-form assets don’t cut down well** Cropping a 16:9 explainer into 9:16 loses the product and the framing. Shorts want creative made vertical from the start.
2. **You need both formats anyway** Shorts placements want 9:16, in-stream wants 16:9. Producing two edits of every ad doubles the work.
3. **Voice-over costs and stalls** Booking voice talent for every version, and every language, slows your testing to a crawl.

How it works

### From product photo to Short

1. **Upload a product photo** Any clear image you already have works: a listing shot, a packshot or a phone photo. Nothing needs to be shot.
2. **Pick a mode and language** UGC creator, Single image, Transition or Reference set. Choose one of 9 lip-synced languages and a 9:16 vertical frame.
3. **Write the hook, or let the AI draft it** Type your own brief, or click Write with AI and get the idea, the camera moves and the voice-over ready to edit.
4. **Export and run on YouTube** Most renders finish in a few minutes. Download the MP4 and upload it straight into your ad account.

The YouTube Shorts ad playbook

### What works in YouTube Shorts ads

Shorts viewers are on YouTube, and YouTube is where people go to learn things. Ads that teach or explain something in a few seconds tend to do better here than pure hype. "Here's why this honey is thicker than the one you buy at the supermarket" is a Shorts ad.

### The specs

| Setting | Use this | Notes |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Aspect ratio | 9:16 | Horizontal ads are shown in Shorts too, but look out of place |
| Resolution | 1080 x 1920 | 720 x 1280 is fine for testing |
| Length | 15 to 30 seconds | Shorts can be longer, but most ads that hold people are short |
| Sound | On | Shorts is a sound-on feed |
| How to run it | Google Ads video campaign | Upload the video to YouTube first, then use it in the campaign |

Google changes ad formats often. Check Google Ads Help for the current Shorts placement details.

### Longer can work on Shorts

TikTok and Reels punish anything that drags. Shorts viewers are a little more patient if the video promises to teach them something. That makes Shorts the natural home for AdVideoLab's longer renders: **Seedance 2.5 goes up to 30 seconds** in a single take, which is enough for a hook, a demo, a reason to believe and an offer.

| Length | Good for |
| --- | --- |
| 10 to 15 seconds | Simple products, retargeting, a single benefit |
| 15 to 20 seconds | A demo plus one proof point |
| 20 to 30 seconds | Products that need explaining, before and after, comparisons |

### A structure that works

1. **0 to 2 seconds:** the question or the problem. "Why does cheap honey crystallise?"
2. **2 to 10 seconds:** the answer, with the product on screen.
3. **10 to 20 seconds:** one proof. A texture close-up, a test, a comparison.
4. **Last 3 seconds:** one call to action.

### Making Shorts ads with AdVideoLab

Pick **UGC creator** for a presenter who explains the product, or **Single image** for clean product shots. For videos longer than 15 seconds, choose Seedance 2.5 on the Generate page. Write with AI paces the voice-over to the length you pick, so a 30-second ad doesn't end mid-sentence.

FAQ

### YouTube Shorts ad generator: common questions

**Can I render both 9:16 and 16:9 versions?**

Yes, on Seedance 2.0. Each render has one aspect ratio, so run the same brief twice to get a Shorts version (9:16) and an in-stream version (16:9).

**Is the voice-over AI-generated?**

Yes. Voice-over is generated and lip-synced to the on-camera creator in UGC mode, in any of the 9 supported languages. Product-only modes render without a person on screen.

**Do I need to film anything or hire creators?**

No. Upload a product photo, pick a mode and a language, and AdVideoLab generates the video. There is no filming, no casting and no studio. Failed renders are refunded automatically.

**How long can the videos be?**

Videos run 4 to 15 seconds on Seedance 2.0 (up to 1080p SR) or 4 to 30 seconds on Seedance 2.5 (480p or 720p). Pick the tier per render on the Generate page.

**How much does it cost?**

Plans are credit-based and self-serve: Starter $55/month for 1,000 credits, Growth $149 for 3,000, Scale $449 for 10,000. There is no free version, but a one-time $3.99 Trial Pass (170 credits) lets you see a real video first. Credits are charged per second of finished video. On Seedance 2.0, 480p costs 10 credits/second, 720p 22 and 1080p 37; on Seedance 2.5, 480p is 13 and 720p 28. A 10-second 480p ad on Seedance 2.0 is 100 credits.

**What do I need to upload?**

One product photo: JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF or HEIC, up to 25 MB. Transition mode takes a first and a last frame, and Reference mode takes a set of images. Photos straight from a phone are converted for you.
