Test products with video before you hold any stock
Dropshipping is a numbers game: most products you test won't work, so the cost of each test decides how many you can afford. Ordering samples and filming each one is slow and expensive. Making the test videos from the supplier's photo is neither.
The test loop
| Step | What you do | Time |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Pick a clean supplier photo (no watermark, product clearly visible) | 5 minutes |
| 2 | Make 3 videos with 3 different angles | 15 to 30 minutes |
| 3 | Run them with the same small budget each | 2 to 4 days |
| 4 | Kill losers, make 3 new versions of the winner | Same day |
| 5 | Order samples only for products that win | When it's worth it |
Our dropshipping playbook goes deeper on reading the results.
Three angles for every product
| Angle | The opening | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Problem first | Show the frustration | Tangled cables everywhere, then the organiser |
| Social proof | Someone like the buyer loves it | "My sister asked where I got this" |
| Before and after | Show the result | Messy desk, then tidy desk |
Use supplier photos safely
- Use photos the supplier gives you permission to use. Most do for their resellers.
- Avoid photos with watermarks or text. They confuse the model and can cause copyright problems.
- Never copy another store's video ads. Making your own from a product photo avoids that problem entirely.
- Don't promise what the product can't do. Exaggerated claims come back as refunds and chargebacks.
Test new countries cheaply
A product that works in the US may also work in Germany, Brazil or Japan. Make the same winning ad in the local language (nine are supported with lip-sync) and test the market before you commit to local stock or shipping.
What a test costs
A 10-second test video at 480p is 100 credits, so three angles for one product cost 300 credits. The $3.99 Trial Pass includes 170 credits, enough for one test video, so you can see the quality before you commit.
