The Shopify workflow: from product photo to MP4 and back
AdVideoLab has no Shopify app and no store integration. The workflow is plain file handling: you take a product image out of Shopify, turn it into a video in AdVideoLab, and put the MP4 back into Shopify or into your ad account. Nothing touches your store settings, and nothing is published until you publish it.
The loop, step by step
| Step | Where | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Shopify admin | Open the product and save its clearest image |
| 2 | AdVideoLab | Upload the photo and pick the kind of video |
| 3 | AdVideoLab | Click Write with AI, then edit the brief |
| 4 | AdVideoLab | Choose length, language and resolution, then generate |
| 5 | AdVideoLab | Download the MP4 when it's ready |
| 6 | Shopify admin or ad manager | Add the video to the product's media, or upload it as an ad |
Most videos are ready in two to five minutes. If one fails, the credits come back automatically.
Pick the right photo
The photo sets the ceiling for the video. The main image on a listing is usually the best choice: one product, even light, a plain background and a readable label. Lifestyle shots with props work less well, because the model has to guess which object is the product. Image uploads lists the formats and sizes, and what to avoid.
If the image in your admin has been compressed or cropped tightly, go back to the original file from the shoot.
Two videos per product, two jobs
A product page and a paid ad want different things.
For the product page, make a product-only video with the product video generator: a slow camera move, the light shifting across the label, one small action. There's no person and no voice-over, so it works muted in a gallery. A square or 4:3 frame usually sits better among product photos than a tall one.
For ads, make a creator video in 9:16: a person holding the product in the first two or three seconds and saying one clear line. Make three angles (problem and solution, social proof, transformation) and let the ad account pick the winner. Our e-commerce page has more on running video across a whole catalogue.
Aspect ratio and length
On Seedance 2.0 you choose the aspect ratio (9:16, 16:9, 1:1, 4:3, 3:4 or 21:9), the length runs from 4 to 15 seconds and resolution goes up to 1080p. On Seedance 2.5 the video follows the shape of your photo, runs up to 30 seconds and comes in 480p or 720p. If you need a square video for a product gallery and your photo isn't square, use Seedance 2.0.
Where to start in a big catalogue
- Your bestsellers. Video amplifies what already works; it rarely rescues a weak product.
- Products customers ask about. If support answers the same question every week, a short video can answer it on the page.
- New arrivals. A launch with video gives the ads something to run from day one.
If you test products before you stock them, the dropshipping playbook covers the test loop in more detail.
What it costs
A 10-second 720p video on Seedance 2.0 costs 220 credits. The Starter plan is $55 a month for 1,000 credits, which covers 4 of those, or 10 ten-second videos at 480p for testing. Plans differ only in credits and price per credit; every feature is on every plan. You can see one real video of your own product first with the $3.99 Trial Pass.
